Summer is officially underway in Chanhassen and with it comes a packed calendar of events, major downtown improvements and exciting progress on several community projects. Here’s a look at what’s happening around town.

43rd Annual Fourth of July Celebration
Chanhassen’s biggest community tradition returns July 2–4 with live music, fireworks, family activities, parades and more. While Civic Campus construction will impact portions of the layout and parking, the celebration is still on and city staff is working to ensure another memorable event for residents and visitors alike.

Summer Concert Series Returns
The city’s popular Summer Concert Series is back this June and July at Lake Ann Park. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy free live music, food trucks and summer evenings by the lake.

“Downtown Celebration” Series Launches
To help support local businesses during the Market Boulevard Improvement Project, the city is launching a new summer downtown celebration series. Events include the Downtown Celebration at Market Square on June 2, the annual Fourth of July Celebration and an Aug. 18 Pop-Up Splash Pad Party at Market Square. Residents are encouraged to continue dining, shopping and spending time downtown throughout construction.

Fishing with First Responders
Kids ages 5–15 can join local firefighters, deputies and DNR staff at Lake Ann Park Fishing Pier on June 11 for Fishing with First Responders. Equipment is provided and two sessions are available.

Police & Fire Safety Camp
This four-day camp gives kids entering grades 2–5 a hands-on introduction to personal safety, emergency preparedness and first responder careers. Participants will learn everything from bike safety and first aid to internet safety and weather preparedness, with visits from drones, fire trucks and the LifeLink helicopter.

Market Boulevard Construction Begins
Work on the Market Boulevard Improvement Project begins on May 26 and will continue in phases through the fall. Improvements include roadway resurfacing, utility upgrades, trail enhancements, railroad crossing improvements and traffic flow updates near the future Roers development. Downtown businesses remain open throughout construction and the city is actively managing signage, access and detours.

Step Inside Civic Campus Phase 2
Residents can now take a behind-the-scenes video tour of Civic Campus Phase 2 construction, including the future pavilion, stage, splashpad, playground and gathering spaces taking shape at City Center Park. Major site work continues this spring and summer as the project moves closer to completion later this year.

Your Fire Department, Serving You Every Day
The Chanhassen Fire Department recently highlighted several free services available to residents, including CPR and AED training, home safety inspections, car seat clinics, portable AED checkout, fire extinguisher training and educational programs for schools and older adults.

City Council Updates
Community Center Management Partnership Approved
The City Council approved a facility management agreement with Sports Facilities Companies for the future Chanhassen Community Center. The partnership will assist with staffing, memberships, programming, marketing and operations while keeping the facility fully city-owned and city-directed. Councilmembers emphasized maintaining local oversight, accountability and a strong community-focused identity throughout the project.

Council Honors Mary Blazanin
The City Council proclaimed April 28, 2026, as Mary Blazanin Day in honor of Senior Center Coordinator Mary Blazanin’s retirement. Since joining the city in 2018, Blazanin helped guide senior programming through the pandemic and played a major role in the transition into the city’s new Senior Center.
