District 112 Teams Invite Students, Parents to Robotics Info Session

The District 112 Community Education FTC Robotics teams are hosting an informational session for students and parents interested in joining the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics program. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at the Chanhassen High School Lecture Forum.

The FTC program provides students ages 12 to 18 with a unique, hands-on opportunity to design, build and program robots for competition. Beyond technical skills, participants gain valuable experience in engineering, business, public relations, public speaking and leadership, fostering the confidence needed for future STEM careers.

The FTC teams meet at Chaska and Chanhassen High Schools. This program has a record of achievement at qualifier and state competitions.

The upcoming info session will provide a comprehensive look at the program, including:

  • Insights into the FTC season and participation requirements.
  • Registration Details: Information on how to sign up for the 2026-27 season which starts Sept. 12.
  • Meet the Teams: An opportunity to speak directly with current team members about their experiences.
  • Facility Tour: A guided visit of the Chanhassen High School robotics room.

“Joining an FTC team is more than just building robots,” said a program representative. “It’s about building and developing vital life skills and career insights while working as a team.”

All interested parents and students are encouraged to attend to learn how they can get involved in the robotics program.
