Learn about Chaska During ‘History and Hemlines’ Tours

Looking to learn more about Chaska history? For example, why did a judge refuse to grant a divorce? Why did a school teacher go insane? What happened to women who were suddenly widowed or divorced?

Find out the answers to these questions (and more) — plus get some exercise! — by registering for the Chaska Historical Society’s new spring tour called “History and Hemlines, the Long and Short of It.” Included will be a mix of stories ranging from humorous to serious, involving scoundrels and women who did not necessarily fit the stereotype of the times.

The “History and Hemlines” tour puts a twist on the current exhibit at the Chaska History Center, Women of Chaska: Grit and Grace. Come prepared to walk about a mile and walk on uneven surfaces. The tour is for adults only and will be held rain or shine.

Tours will leave from the Chaska History Center (112 W 4th St.) and last about an hour and a half. Tickets (18 or older) cost $20 (non-refundable). Registration is now open.

The dates and times of the tour are:

  • Friday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday April 25, at 1:30 p.m.
  • Saturday April 25, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday May 1, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday May 2, at 1:30 p.m.
