Chaska Lights Up Fireman’s Park

Mark Windschitl presided over his last tree-lighting ceremony as Chaska mayor on Sunday night, Dec. 8, in Fireman’s Park. He had the help of his grandchildren in pushing the button to light the tree and marking the start of the holiday season.

A huge crowd was on hand for the evening, thanks to warmer than normal temperatures and lots of fun activities for the little ones in attendance.

The star of the show, as usual, was the 50-foot-tall Christmas tree that is supported by a local nonprofit, the Chaska 100 Club. The funds raised by the group helps erect the tree each year, plus add additional light displays around the park.

Other activities included a visit by Santa, holiday songs by the Chaska High School Choir, pictures with the Grinch, free light sticks, s’mores by flaming fire pits and more.
