Kirk’s Captain Corner: Kolby Christl, Chanhassen Boys’ Basketball Team

(Kirk’s Captain Corner is a regular feature that will allow Carver County residents to get to know the student-leaders of the various teams in our high schools. Today, we feature senior captain Kolby Christl of the Chanhassen Boys Basketball team.)

How long have you been playing basketball?

I have been playing basketball my whole life.

You’ve been a multi-sport athlete for Chanhassen since your youth. When did you know that basketball was going to be one of your best?

I knew for a while that basketball was going to be the one. It was always the sport that I enjoyed most, so I knew that I would have fun working hard at it.

What has been your favorite memory playing for Chanhassen?

My favorite memory was beating Chaska last year on the buzzer beater.

What is a “hype-up song” that we might hear in the Chanhassen locker room pre-game?

One song we always play is “Dreams and Nightmares,” by Meek Mill.

What are the team’s goals as we head into the postseason?

Some of our goals are to keep playing together, do the little things and have fun. We will see where that takes us.

What are your plans for next year?

Next year, I plan to attend college for a business degree.

What does it mean to you to be a team captain?

It means a lot. It shows that both my teammates and coaches trust me to lead us as a team and be a captain of our program.

The Chanhassen Storm Boys Basketball team opens Section 2AAAA play on Wednesday, March 4.
