August’s arrival always seems to be a reminder of how quickly summer passes in Minnesota. As summer winds down, activity in Carver is not slowing. Here are my updates for August.
There’s a Carver app for that –
The City of Carver now has a mobile app, making it easier than ever to stay connected to what’s going on in our community. The “City of Carver” app is free and available for download on iOS or Android. Visit the App Store, Google Play Store, or cityofcarver.com/475/mobile-app for more details! Hat tip to Council Member Erik Perschmann for championing this effort to connect with community members and other groups in a new and convenient way!
Bus Roadeo –
The Minnesota Public Transit Association’s 2026 Statewide Bus Roadeo was held in Carver last month. The event included training sessions to enhance driving and safety skills, large and small bus competitions, safety demonstrations and a maintenance technical roadeo. Despite some very warm temperatures, a good time was had by all!
Bus Service from Carver Station –
Speaking of busses, SouthWest Transit will once again be providing bus service to both the Renaissance Festival and State Fair from Carver Station (1607 Hartwell Drive). Find more information, including schedules, fares and BOGO (buy one, get one) deals, at swtransit.org/events/state-fair-renfest/
Moving dirt on new residential development – After a development receives approval from the City on their preliminary plat, they’re able to apply for a grading permit. That’s what is happening for both the Enclave (south of Highway 212 off Monroe Drive in our northwestern growth area) and Summerfield (west of where County Road 11/Jonathan Carver Parkway turns south as you’re heading to Jordan) developments. Construction hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Phishing email warning –
Last month a business owner received a fraudulent email from a bad actor asking for a fee related to a permit they had submitted to the City. The business owner very smartly checked with the City before clicking on any links or paying the fee to confirm the email was legitimate, which it wasn’t. As a reminder about City communications:
- We will never require electronic transfer, wire transfers, gift cards or cryptocurrency
- All official City emails end in @cityofcarver.com
- If a payment request from the City doesn’t look right, please call us at 952-448-5353 to confirm before paying. We’re always happy to answer your questions!
VOTE! The Primary Election is Tuesday, August 11 –
In addition to important state and federal races, candidates for Carver County Sheriff will also be on the Primary ballot. Early voting is already taking place and Carver residents can vote early/absentee at the Carver County Government Center (600 East 4th Street) in Chaska.
