This May, Carver County Libraries are bringing together practical skills, big ideas and opportunities for growth with a lineup of programs designed to inform, inspire and connect the community.

For those eager to get outside and dig into the growing season, Master Gardener Help Desks return to the Chanhassen and Chaska libraries beginning Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to noon. Staffed by Carver/Scott County Extension Master Gardener volunteers, these drop-in sessions offer expert, research-based advice on everything from soil health and plant selection to pest control and landscaping challenges. Whether a seasoned gardener or just getting started, bring any yard and/or garden questions and get personalized guidance. Help desks will continue every Saturday through Sept. 27, making it easy to get support all season long.

The Chaska Library will host “How A.I. is Reshaping Work and Life” on Thursday, May 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This engaging session, led by author Zac Engler, explores how artificial intelligence is transforming jobs, identity and everyday life. Through a mix of keynote presentation and interactive discussion, participants will consider the rise of smart machines, our evolving relationship with technology, and what it means to stay human in an increasingly automated world. The program is open to adults and offers a timely look at one of today’s most important topics.

Entrepreneurs in the community can take the next step toward building their own business with “¡Vamos Emprendedores: De la Idea a la Acción!,” a free three-part workshop series at the Chaska Library on May 14, 21 and 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Designed for Spanish-speaking adults, this hands-on program supports participants in the early stages of their entrepreneurial journey. Attendees will learn how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, generate and evaluate business ideas, and create a strategic plan using the Lean Canvas framework. The series also covers essential topics such as market research, funding options and selecting the right location for a business. Register in advance as space is limited.

Together, these programs highlight the wide range of opportunities available through Carver County libraries — from practical, hands-on help in the garden to thoughtful conversations about technology and support for launching new ventures.
