Think about making visits to a library: there’s nothing quite like browsing shelves or taking part in the wide variety of programs offered for both kids and adults. The Library Foundation of Carver County plays a vital role in ensuring continued future success for all of the locations.

Cuts in federal funding impact services that libraries can offer, so the Foundation steps in to bridge the gap. Thanks to the generous support of community members, the Foundation helps in making programs possible, inspiring lifelong learning and nurturing a love of reading for all ages.
About the Foundation
The Library Foundation enhances county-wide programs and services that aren’t funded with local tax dollars. The Foundation consists of volunteer community members, including a representative from each of the county libraries’ Friends groups. Funds are raised through contributions from businesses and individuals, grants and special events
For 2026, funding has been approved by the Foundation for the following programs:
- 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
- Adult programming that didn’t have other available funding (including supplies)
- Award books for youth
- Book club kits for all ages
- Book Pages publications for all library locations
- The teen writing contest during TeenTober
- Summer reading program
- Support MN Read Act books for all library locations
- Winter Reads for adults
How the Foundation Differs from Friends of the Library
The Library Foundation of Carver County is a separate organization from the Friends of the Library groups. While Friends groups support their individual library branch, the Foundation focuses on county-wide initiatives that benefit residents in all branches through additional or expanded services and outreach programs.
The Foundation and Friends groups work collaboratively on projects—such as the summer reading program—when it is appropriate.
How to Help
There are a number of ways residents can help, including serving on the board, volunteering as an ad-hoc committee member or donating funds to the Foundation. Note: as a non-profit organization, all contributions are tax deductible.
The Board meets four times a year and the Foundation welcomes any and all suggestions from the community.
