Santa Arrives in Carver for Community Event

As the Carver fire truck rounded the corner and headed toward City Hall, children awaiting his arrival buzzed with excitement.

“Here he comes,” said a boy decked out in an elf costume.

The youngsters waved toward the vehicle with flashing red lights as they spied Santa in the passenger seat.

Santa arrived in Carver on Saturday at about 1:30 p.m. to the warm welcome from kids and family members gathered for the annual Carver Village Christmas celebration. The event was sponsored by the Carver Lions Club and the Carver Fire Department.

Once inside, Santa greeted kids near the City Hall Christmas tree. Everybody was presented a candy cane, as Santa asked the children what they wanted for Christmas.

Apart from the visit from Santa, the Carver City Hall room was filled with crafts, coloring contest sheets, cookies, drinks, temporary tattoos and festive music.

A short while later, Historic Downtown Carver hosted its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, which included live music, s’mores by the fire, horse-drawn wagon rides and hot chocolate. The 40-degree temperatures helped boost the mood of attendees.
