2026 Carver City Council Candidate

“My vision for the community of Carver is that while yes, we are growing, we don’t lose sight of that beautiful small town feel that makes this city so wonderful to be a part of!”
— Dan Prechel —
Name: Candidate Name
Email address: danprechel@msn.com
City of residence: Carver
Professional and volunteer background:
I am a purchaser for ABM Equipment LLC in Hopkins, Minnesota. The style of volunteer work I have been doing is not your typical type. If a friend, neighbor or even a random stranger needs help, I’m there.
What makes you the best candidate in this race:
I believe I would be a good candidate for my belief that we should be fiscally responsible when it comes to spending. Even though we are a growing community, we still need to watch our funds.
What would be your top 3 priorities if elected to City Council:
The three majors I will push for are a local grocery store for residents, continuing youth programs with the city of Chaska, and voting in the way to keep property taxes down.
With future growth projected for your community, what factors do you feel are important to consider as opportunities arise:
Growth is great for our community, but over spending early can hurt the current population in tax hikes before the new population even moves in. One concern is a loss in local business revenue.
What does good civic leadership look like to you:
Good civic leadership to me comes in the form of integrity, honesty and the due diligence to prevent any type of fraud or abuse when it comes taxpayer money.
What would you suggest would help to build an informed and engaged citizenry:
Building a strong, engaged and informed society to me means transparency when deciding things that directly affect the community.
What is your vision for the future of the city and how would you achieve that vision:
My vision for the community of Carver is that while yes, we are growing, we don’t lose sight of that beautiful small town feel that makes this city so wonderful to be a part of!
How would you address, if at all, ongoing property tax increases:
When talking increases of property taxes in the city, my goal would be to focus on narrowing in on how funds are spent within each department and what is necessary at the current time.
With so much attention focused on state and national issues, how will you engage the community to increase awareness of local issues:
In regards to raising awareness to local issues, I believe an open and transparent government is a key factor in connecting with the community. Offering Q & A nights would greatly help in this passing of information.
