The co-op StormHawks team, coached by Eric Rogness, recently opened their season ranked 10th in state, winning all three initial matches. Rogness highlights wrestling’s life skills and team reliance despite the individual nature of the sport. The team continues to grow.

The first snowflakes herald the arrival of winter and the start of Chaska Hawks sports. The girls basketball team began strongly, defeating Champlin Park 69-46, led by Ella Keenan’s 22 points. The Hawks’ next game is against Prior Lake. Other teams, including co-op hockey and dance, are also in action.

Chanhassen Football Advances to State with Thrilling Last-Second Win Over Mankato East
Each summer, high school football teams begin their season in the heat of June, hoping they will be playing in the chill of November in football playoffs. Friday night, November 1st, the Chanhassen Storm (6-3) faced off against Mankato East Cougars (7-2) for the Section 2 Class 5A championship and a trip to state on the line with the temperature at 42 degrees at kick-off. East took the opening kick-off and both teams moved the ball well with their balanced pass/rush offenses. Field position was key in the first quarter, with Chanhassen being held behind mid-field most of the quarter.…

Chanhassen Prevails Against Chaska in Football Playoff Rematch
It was a perfect afternoon for playoff football as Chaska (4-4) faced their District 112 rival and current Minnesota Class 5A Champs Chanhassen (5-3) in the Section 2A semi-final on October 26th. Student sections on both sides of the field were in playoff form. The Chanhassen student section was dressed in alternating blue and yellow, and Chaska students in purple and white. The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair with each punter seeking to establish good field positions for their teams. Turnovers bit each team.
