Chaska Football Opens Season with a Win
Going on the road for the first game of a season adds some pressure on a team. Going on a long road trip on a very warm night adds even more pressure. The well-disciplined and well-coached Chaska Hawks team did not let the pressure get to them, defeating Rochester Mayo 7-3 on Sept. 4. With game-time temperatures in the mid-80s and humidity to match, kickoff was pushed back a half hour. Chaska Girls Tennis Building Momentum as Season Starts
Classes started this week at Chaska High School and the girls tennis team has already competed in four competitions. Last year’s graduation had an impact on the Hawks, as the 2026 squad has just four seniors. This is giving underclassmen a chance to hone their games and position Chaska for a competitive season. The team has a new coach: Bill Rennie, who comes to the team with a broad and deep knowledge of the game as both a player and coach. Chaska Cubs Season Ends at State Against Coon Rapids
The Chaska Cubs faced St. Paul’s Air Freight Unlimited on Aug. 21 in the opening weekend of the 2026 Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament at home in Athletic Park. Sam Tyrpa was on the mound and went 6⅓ innings, six of which were hitless. The Cubs’ offense was once again ignited by the Rogers brothers in the second inning, with Walker doubling and Wyatt singling. Both would eventually score on an Air Freight error. Chaska Girls Soccer Opens Season Against Andover
The Chaska Girls Soccer team got its season underway with a match against Andover on Aug. 29 at the Chaska soccer pitch. The 2026 team includes seven seniors and seven juniors and is again coached by Chris Bagshaw. Captains for the season are midfielder Kaia Quale, midfielder Abigail Link and defender Chloe Davey. The game opened as many early-season games do, with both teams working hard to demonstrate the skills and tactics they had been developing throughout the off season. Chaska Boys Soccer Opens Season in Draw with Prior Lake
On a perfect night for any sporting event in late summer, the Chaska Boys Soccer team took on a traditionally formidable Prior Lake team on Aug. 27 in the first athletic event of the 2026–2027 school year. The Hawks’ starting lineup included six seniors, along with a solid, talented contingent of underclassmen who saw a good deal of playing time. The Chaska Cubs swept the Victoria Vics to win their best-of-five series, powered by strong pitching and a grand slam from Mac Born in an 11-3 victory. The Cubs now turn their attention to the state tournament, entering with a balanced lineup and a pitching staff that has been among the team’s strengths all season.
