Carver County Voters Select Local, State Officials
The voters have spoken. Through the course of early voting and finally election day, Carver County residents cast their ballots for president, congressional members, state legislators, county board candidates, school board members, city officials, judges and more. Now that the results are in, the real work starts, as a fresh slate of local officials soon begin to serve their fellow citizens and deliver on campaign promises. Despite Resident Objections, Data Center Gains Preliminary OK
A massive data center, proposed by Virginia-based CloudHQ, received preliminary approval from the Chaska City Council at its Oct. 21 meeting. The 1.4-million-square-foot building is slated for the West Creek Corporate Center off Engler Blvd., near the western edge of the city. “This is the largest economic development project we will ever see,” suggested Mayor Mark Windschitl. “Many cities would love to see this in their community.” The project doesn’t sit well with many of the residents in the adjacent Clover Ridge neighborhood, however. Volunteers rally behind Carver County Local News
A standing-room-only crowd turned out Wednesday night for the kick-off event of community volunteers and supporters who want to back the newly launched Carver County Local News. Those in attendance heard from the nonprofit board members and others about how the local news organization came to be and how they can help out. Attendees also stepped forward to assist with the effort to create a local news source — everything from volunteer reporters, photographers, business assistants and prospective board members. A New Beginning: Community Volunteers Launch Nonprofit News Organization
After the closure of two local newspapers in southwestern metropolitan areas, community members initiated efforts to launch a new local news organization. With support from local officials, they aim to provide reliable and trusted news, promoting community dialogue and accountability. The Carver County Local News has begun organizing and gathering community support.
