(Note: Carver County Library branch managers are providing updates on programs and services for Carver County Local News. This month, Chanhassen and Victoria location manager Patrick Jones shares information on upcoming July programs. Check the library Events Calendar for more details about dozens of options).
The Snake Discovery program slithers into Carver County Library in July. This program covers topics like diet, habitat, defense mechanisms and fun facts, using an assortment of props and live animals. From touching lizards to holding snakes, attendees of all ages are sure to experience something new. Snake Discovery will be at:
- Victoria – 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27
- Chanhassen – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28
- Chaska – Wednesday, July 29 at 1 p.m.
Chanhassen’s’ summer of STEM programs continues with STEAM Stations Building and Engineering on Thursday, July 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. Targeted for children ages 5 to 12, patrons are invited to drop in and explore different stations with hands-on building and engineering activities.
Another STEM program will be a visit from the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge at Chanhassen on Thursday, July 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. At this event, kids can meet the team from Refuge, learn about the national wildlife refuge in their own neighborhoods, discover what wildlife lives there and jump in on a free activity to explore ways to enjoy the Wildlife Refuge.
Super Storytimes provide not only a rich early literacy experience, but end with a fun craft for kids. Victoria presents Seeds We Eat Super Storytime on Monday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Chaska while Chanhassen presents Once Upon a Farm Super Storytime on Wednesday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m.
