Spring into Spring at Carver County Libraries

(Note: Carver County Library branch managers are providing updates on programs and services for Carver County Local News. This month, Chanhassen and Victoria location manager Patrick Jones shares information on upcoming programs. Check the library Events Calendar for more details about dozens of options).

Programs for all ages will be offered in March and April at the Chanhassen Chaska and Victoria libraries as a new season — spring — approaches.

On Monday, March 23, come to the Victoria Library at 10:30 a.m. and join Carver-Scott Master Gardeners to celebrate spring with a special garden-themed storytime.

At Chaska on Thursday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m., children, parents and their caregivers are invited to sing, dance and read along with Library Director Miss Jodi in this lively, music-themed storytime.

Teens can take part in the annual Teen Poetry contest starting on April 1. Young poets and aspiring writers are invited to enter. Poems should be a maximum of 24 lines and relate to the theme of The Unturned Page — poems about the future or a new chapter. One winner from grades 6 to 8 and one winner from grades 9 to 12 will be chosen by a panel of judges. Winners will receive a prize, and the winning poems will be displayed in the libraries. Visit the library webpage (www.carverlib.org) for more details and to submit a poem.

The Friends of the Chanhassen Library sponsor another Great Decision program on Monday, March 23, at 6:30 p.m., entitled “America and the World: Trump 2.0 Foreign Policy.” Presidents Trump’s return has marked a break from 80 years of U.S. foreign policy leadership, embracing an “America First” approach. Participants will receive links to materials to read in advance and should expect to engage in small-group discussion.
