Holy Family Boys Tennis Doubles Team Advances to State

Holy Family Catholic High School’s doubles tennis team, Michael Lizak and Hayden Holcomb, is headed to the state tournament after winning the Section 2A Individual Championship held May 21 at the Wilkinson Tennis Center on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.

Entering as the No. 2 seed, Lizak and Holcomb delivered a dominant performance throughout the two-day tournament, winning every match in straight sets en route to the championship match. In the finals, the duo defeated the No. 1-seeded doubles team from Litchfield to secure their place in the MSHSL Class A Boys Tennis Individuals Tournament on June 4 at the Reed-Sweatt Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

Holy Family Head Coach Sam Puff credited the pair’s commitment and preparation for their postseason success.

“Their dedication to training in the offseason, practicing every day and spending extra time on the weekends to prepare for this moment has paid off,” Puff said. “I give them all the credit for earning this trip to the state tournament.”
