Legion Auxiliary Celebrates ‘Purple Up! For Military Kids Day’

The American Legion Auxiliary Chaska Unit #57 celebrated “Purple Up! For Military Kids Day” during its monthly membership meeting on April 6.

“Purple Up! For Military Kids Day” is a day for communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices.

The American Legion Auxiliary Chaska Unit #57 is dedicated to helping build awareness for the needs of military families and celebrate the nation’s other heroes — military children. This grassroots effort began in 2011 to honor the sacrifices that military children make every day for our country.

Why purple? Because it indicates all the branches of our military. Air Force BLUE, Army GREEN, Navy BLUE, Marine RED, and Coast Guard BLUE; all combined to PURPLE.

If you miss the official day, don’t despair. The entire month of April is officially known as the month of the military child.
