The lighting of Chaska’s 50-foot-tall Christmas Tree in Fireman’s Park on Sunday, Nov. 23, officially kicked off the holiday season for local families and individuals.
Hundreds of adults and kids were on hand at 6 p.m. to witness the lighting ceremony, enjoy s’mores alongside cozy bonfires, and visit with Santa.
The gigantic tree, dating back to its origin in 2016, is the centerpiece of a light display that greets motorists and pedestrians along Chestnut Street in downtown.
The festive display is funded in part by the 100 Club, a group of community boosters that has been hosting an annual Christmas party to raise funds for Chaska holiday lights since the 1980s.
The 100 Club continues to invest in improving the lights each year. And last year, the community display was moved from City Square Park to Fireman’s Park and included new ground-level “photo op” attractions.
