TeenTober is a celebration of Carver County teen library patrons that will be highlighted by two special programs this month.
Six Word Story
The annual Six Word Story contest for teens is back! This year’s theme is spooky stories and the contest is open during the month of October to anyone in grades 6-12 who lives in or goes to school in Carver County.
Judges will be looking for a story, not just six related words.
The entry form is now available on the library’s website. Entries must not be plagiarized, copied or written with assistance from other sources. Any evidence to the contrary will result in immediate disqualification.
Additional guidelines:
- By submitting your Six Word Story, you are authorizing Carver County Library to display your story.
- The story must be six words (no more, no less).
- The story must be original.
- The story must be appropriate for all ages.
- Only one submission is allowed per person.
- Submissions are only accepted during October 2025.
- Submissions are only accepted using the online form.
- Two winners per grade will receive Barnes & Noble gift cards.
Thanks to the Carver County Library Foundation for sponsoring the contest.

Fine Forgiveness
Additionally, TeenTober is celebrated with a Fine Forgiveness program. Patrons ages 12-19 can have up to $10 in fines waived from their library account.
While the library no longer charges fines, some teens might have old fines preventing them from checking out materials. This program provides a chance to regain access to all the great books for teens at the Chanhassen, Chaska and Victoria libraries. Pick up a fine forgiveness form at any Carver County Library.
It’s going to be a great October!
