Zhicheng He, a senior vocal performance major from Chaska, will perform as part of Bemidji State University’s annual Opera Night Gala on April 11 at Bemidji’s Sanford Center.
He will be performing “Hai già vinta la causa” from “Le nozze di Figaro” (“The Marriage of Figaro”) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Students will be joined by BSU faculty and guest artist Dr. Nathan Herfindahl, an operatic baritone who is director of choirs at Brainerd High School. Herfindahl has performed with The Metropolitan Opera, The Washington National Opera, Opera de Monte Carlo, the Martha Graham Dance Company, Minnesota Concert Opera and The National Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Opera Night tickets are $65 for adults, $45 for all K-12 students and $40 for BSU and Northwest Technical College students with valid student IDs. Tickets include a meal with dessert and a cash bar will be available. The event begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening for cocktails at 6 p.m. For dinner, guests may choose from chicken Cordon Bleu or grilled salmon with mango salsa, served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Dessert options are three-layer chocolate truffle mousse cake, flourless dark chocolate torte or key lime pie.
