(Kirk’s Captain Corner is back for the 2025-26 High School athletic season! It is a regular feature that will allow Carver County residents to get to know the student-leaders of the various teams in our high schools. Our first feature of the year is on senior Addi Schneider, Captain of the Chaska Hawks girls soccer team.)

How long have you been playing soccer?
Since I was 3.
What position do you play?
Forward and midfield.
What has been your favorite memory playing for the Hawks soccer team
Hanging out with the team outside of practices like the bus rides and pasta dinners.
You were also the leading scorer on the Hawks basketball team that had such a memorable postseason run last year. One might think that basketball and soccer are very different sports—what are some of the things you’ve learned on the basketball court that can apply to soccer?
I would say that soccer helps me more in basketball than basketball helps me in soccer. The footwork we do in soccer definitely helps me with finishing on the court. Also the conditioning and running for soccer leading up to the basketball season keeps me in shape.
How has the lead-in to the soccer season gone so far?
Good, I think we have a lot of potential this season and even with losing so many seniors last year we still look strong.
You recently committed to Concordia University–St. Paul to play basketball. Congrats to you! What about the school and program made you want to be a Golden Bear?
There were many things that I loved about CSP! The coaching staff was super welcoming and their goals for the program are similar to mine. I also appreciate that it’s close to home so my family can come to most games!
What does it mean to you to be a team captain?
Being a team captain for the soccer team my senior year is super exciting. I’ve been on the team since eighth grade and I’ve always looked up to and followed the examples set by captains. Now, I try and lead by example and set the standards high. Being there for your teammates is another big thing, and doing whatever the team needs you do to succeed.
