The summer is half over, but free music continues to fill the air each week across the southwest metro region.
Area residents enjoy some beautiful settings in Carver, Chanhassen, Chaska and Victoria as they sway to the tunes offered up by bands playing everything from rock and country to salsa, bluegrass and pop music.
Listed are the remaining opportunities to catch some great music while enjoying the outdoors.
Chanhassen
Three more concerts are planned yet this summer at Lake Ann Park in Chanhassen. Music starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m.
On July 17, the cover band Supernova will be performing. Sunny Days Comfort Food will be the vendor serving up American classics to the crowd.
On July 24, Trevor McSpadden and his band will bring their country twang to the shores of Lake Ann. The Brick Oven Bus will be on hand to feed those who are hungry.
Then finally, on July 31, Sawyer’s Dream will offer up their vocal harmonies for the crowd. Rollin Nolen’s BBQ will be serving as the evening’s vendor.
Chaska
Summer music is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. in Fireman’s Park, downtown Chaska, through the end of August. A weekly farmer’s market is held in conjunction with the concerts through Aug. 21.
Next up on the Thursday night schedule is Just Dave & The Rockin’ All Stars on July 17. Then on July 24, the MN Valley Community Band will perform.
The Church of Cash is slated to perform July 31, followed by the Tuxedo Band on Aug. 7.
Longtime Twin Cities favorite GB Leighton will hit the Fireman’s Park stage on Aug. 21. The Hunker’d Down Blues Band finishes out the summer concert series on Aug. 28.
Three additional Tuesday concerts geared toward kids and families remain on this summer’s schedule as well.
On July 22, The Bazillions will perform from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The Jolly Pops will hit the stage from 6 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 5. Then the series finale is slated from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 19, featuring Tricia and the Toonies.
Carver
Gazebo Park in the city of Carver will host three upcoming concerts.
On July 16, the Walker Brothers Band will perform from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
A family-friendly favorite, the Teddy Bear Band, will appear from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on July 30. Don’t forget to bring your favorite teddy bear along for the show!
Finally, on Aug. 20, the Brueskes will perform for the crowd from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Victoria
On Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m., the city of Victoria hosts “Live by the Lake Concerts” in beautiful Bayfront Park, overlooking Stieger Lake. The concert series features artists from all over the area. In addition, family-friendly activities add to the fun.
The next concert is July 16, featuring PK Mayo, who plays a mix of hits from country, rock, blues and folk.
On July 23, the Blue Groove Bluegrass Band will perform both contemporary and classic bluegrass tunes.
Jonah and the Whales will hit the Charlson Thun Community Bandstand on July 30, featuring rock, pop and modern country tunes.
The four-piece cover band, Varsity Rejects, plays on Aug. 6, followed by Skitzo Fonik on Aug. 13.
Salsa del Soul’s nine-piece orchestra arrives with its high-energy show on Aug. 20, followed by country and rock band Stone Daisy on Aug. 27.
Three Classic Car Nights remain on the schedule – July 23, Aug. 13 and Aug. 27. Bring your classic car for display, or enjoy the others bring for the evening.
