Chaska High Gets High Marks

Chaska High School ranks among the best high schools in Minnesota, according to a recent story on the Money Inc. website.

Chaska ranks 14th on the 2025 list, as reported by Money Inc.’s Dana Hanson in her story, “The 30 Best High Schools in Minnesota: Top-Ranked Educational Institutions.” The top three on the list are Minnetonka, Wayzata and Edina.

The rankings are determined by educational factors that include “rigorous academics, diverse extracurricular opportunities and supportive learning environments.” Statistics used for evaluating the top high schools include graduation rates, college acceptance statistics and innovative teaching approaches.

According to the online article, Chaska High School serves about 1,500 students in grades 9-12 and touts a student-to-teacher ratio of 18:1. Chaska students are high performers in the areas of science and math, the story reports, and post above-average scores on standardized tests.

In addition, Chaska offers many extracurricular opportunities that help enhance student development.

Chaska Principal James Bach said the school is pleased to be recognized for its ongoing excellence.

“We obviously think we’re number one,” he admitted. “But this is great publicity for us, and we appreciate being recognized for the quality education that we offer our students.”

Bach said beyond the academic excellence the school enjoys, the extracurricular opportunities in the arts, clubs and athletics contribute to more well-rounded students. The school reports a high participation rate of students who are involved in at least one extra activity. Bach noted that’s one advantage to having two high schools in District 112 – students can be involved in more extracurriculars if they choose.

Bach said he thanks the entire Chaska and Carver community for its support of the high school and students. He said not every high school in the state experiences such incredible support.

“I feel fortunate to be part of this supportive school community,” he said, adding that other principals he talks to throughout the state face challenges that Chaska has so far been able to minimize.
