From the Commissioner’s Desk: Development You Can See Across Carver County

District 4 Commissioner, Tim Lynch

(Hear from Carver County Commissioners is a regular feature where Carver County commissioners share updates, insights, and messages with their communities. Commissioner Tim Lynch, District 4 is providing the current edition.)

One of the most rewarding parts of serving as a Carver County commissioner is seeing our community grow stronger, safer and more connected. And right now, that development is showing up in a very visible way — on our roads.

These investments are essential for the long-term safety, efficiency and strength of our county. Here’s a snapshot of what’s happening across some of our major transportation corridors:

Highway 212

This major artery remains on schedule, which is great news for everyone who travels through our county. Some of the new pavement will be done in June, and as that work progresses, traffic will begin shifting from the old highway to segments of the new highway later this summer and into the fall. We’re also looking forward to the opening of the Highway 51 bridge by Nov. 1 at the latest. These improvements will enhance both traffic flow and safety along this critical corridor.

Highway 10/Waconia Parkway

Waconia is leading this project, with Minger Construction at the helm. Work will begin once school is out to minimize disruption, running from June through late August. It’s important to note that there will be a hard closure at the intersection, be sure to plan ahead and follow detour signs. These upgrades are another step toward a better connected and more accessible Waconia.

Highway 11/14

Construction is well underway on this intersection. We did experience a two-week delay due to necessary utility relocation work, but we’re moving forward. Barring any significant weather interruptions, we anticipate the intersection will be open to traffic by mid-July at the latest.

Highway 41/10

We’re making steady progress on the west end of the project, with the next phase set to close the White Oak and Highway 41 intersection starting in mid-June through the end of August. While utility relocation work has presented some challenges and slight delays, our teams are actively exploring ways to make up time. We’re still targeting completion of the full project late this fall, pending any further schedule impacts.

Whether you’re commuting to work, taking the kids to school, or heading out to enjoy one of our beautiful parks, we want you to get there safely and efficiently. We’re committed to open communication, and we’ll continue to provide updates as the progress of these projects.

Thank you again for your patience and support — it’s an honor to serve such an engaged community.
