Summer is almost here, and that means it’s time to dive into the Carver County Libraries’ Summer Reading Program.

Whether a patron is a bookworm or just looking for some fun activities, this year’s program has something for everyone — kids and teens alike. And the best part? The more participants read, the better the chances of winning prizes!

Starting June 2, kids and teens can join the fun in the Beanstack app or on paper. Each person gets one entry for each book he/she reads or listens to, and the more books completed, the higher the odds of winning a fantastic prize! Paper forms will be available in libraries starting June 2 for those who prefer a hands-on experience.

For Kids (Ages 0-11)
It’s all about reading, reviewing and having fun! Kids can earn a free book by completing five activities, either through the Beanstack app or by using the paper activity sheets available in the library. There are two categories: one for children from birth through preschool and one for kids ages 5-11. These activities are designed to inspire creativity and learning.

Kids can complete a Read, Write, Draw book review for every book they read or listen to. The more reviews they submit, the more chances they have to win prizes such as tickets to Sea Life, the Minnesota State Fair, the Minnesota Twins, and even Barnes & Noble gift cards! Prize drawings will happen periodically throughout the program. (But remember: submitting a review doesn’t guarantee a prize).

For Teens (Ages 12-18)

Teens can join the action by completing five activities in the app or on the Teen Activity Card to earn a free book. But that’s just the beginning: Teens can submit as many Best Book Ever reviews as they’d like for a chance to win amazing prizes, including Sea Life tickets, Minnesota State Fair tickets and more. Reviews can be entered via Beanstack, the website, or on paper forms available in the libraries.

But wait — there’s more! Teens can also participate in the Teen Sticker Design Contest. One winner from each branch will receive a Barnes & Noble gift card and a framed award. Plus, their sticker design will be printed and available in libraries during Teen Read Month this October. Imagine seeing unique, personal artwork on a sticker!

Prizes to Get Excited About

Thanks to incredible sponsors — including KARE 11, the Minnesota Twins, MELSA, Mackin, Sea Life at Mall of America, and the Minnesota State Fair — prizes this year are bigger and better than ever. Whether it’s tickets to top attractions, books or gift cards, there’s something for everyone.

So, don’t delay – head over to a local Carver County Library, sign up, and get ready to read, explore and win! This summer is going to be unforgettable.
