Chanhassen Easter Egg Hunt Draws Hundreds

Hundreds of local children and their family members descended upon City Center Park in Chanhassen for the 42nd Annual Easter Egg Candy Hunt on Saturday, April 19.

Two waves of egg hunters, ages 12 and under, lined up along marked off areas in anticipation of the start. They were staring at multi-colored eggs on the ground in front of them for minutes.

One mom pulled back a toddler who wanted to start early. “Not yet, we need to wait,” she said.

The dad of a shy girl, who didn’t seem particularly interested in the hunt, joked, “Remember to throw some elbows.”

After the announcer counted down from 10, the kids rushed toward the colored eggs. Some of them contained “Golden Eggs” that kids could redeem for prizes. The rest contained candy.

Kids also were able to participate in a coloring contest. Prizes were awarded to the artwork judged the best.

The Easter Bunny visited the event, posing for pictures with kids after the hunt was completed. Local organizations and businesses set up booths within the park to promote their efforts.
