Softball Hawks Start Season Swinging

The Chaska softball team started the 2025 season with three games the week of April 6: a 2-1 loss to Hopkins, a 16-1 win against Orono and a 6-0 loss to Bloomington Jefferson

Chaska hosted Hopkins on Wednesday, April 9. Allana Benoit took the mound for the Hawks and kept Hopkins from scoring until the fifth inning. Lyla Branch led the Hawks at the plate, going three for three. Macy Anderson got the RBI for the Hawks in the bottom of the seventh inning. A strong defensive game led Hopkins to come out on top 2-1.

Things went differently for the Hawks on April 10 with their first conference game at Orono. Noelle Stein pitched for the Hawks for their second game in two days. Chaska jumped out in the top of the first for three runs to take a lead they would never relinquish. The score was 5-1 going into the fifth inning when the Hawks unleashed the bats and put down 11 runs. The score of 16-1 would hold for the first win of the season. Nine of eleven Hawks scored at least once in that inning. Four Hawks were three for four in the game and Ashley Larson led the Hawks with four RBIs. Sophia Bixler and Elizabeth Scott had three RBIs.

On Friday, the Hawks traveled to Bloomington for a conference game with Jefferson. Jefferson got on the scoreboard first with one run in the second and two in the third. Three more runs were added by Jefferson in the sixth inning, giving them a 6-0 win. Delaney Farm led the Hawks at the plate, going two for three.

Chaska is now 1-1 in Metro West conference play.

The Hawks will have two games the week of April 14. Home games are played on the softball field to the east of the high school (toward Pioneer Middle School). New this year at the diamond are softball sponsor supported outfield and dugout banners. Check out the team’s schedule on their web site and keep with their activities on Facebook.
