Options Abound for Disposing of Christmas Trees

Disposing of your dried-up Christmas tree is simple for area residents.

Boy Scout Troop 337 collects Christmas trees door-to-door for residents of Chanhassen, Chaska and Victoria. The Scouts then deliver them to a compost site for a small fee. This event also helps raise funds for the troop’s annual operating expenses and camp scholarships, along with providing a service to residents in disposing of their trees.

You can email Troop 337 at bsatroop3337@gmail.com and include your name, address, and phone number. The troop will provide further details about their pick-up schedule.

If you’d prefer to dispose of that real tree yourself, Carver County residents can haul their Christmas trees to the Environmental Center for recycling. The service is available through the end of February and is free to Carver County residents. Visit the Environmental Center page for hours and location.

Your private refuse hauler may also be willing to pick up your tree curbside. Contact your hauler and ask if they collect real Christmas trees for recycling. Some haulers offer this service for free to their customers, and some charge a nominal fee.
