Area Residents Gather for Holiday Kickoff

Residents of Victoria gathered on a chilly Thursday night, Dec. 5, to kick off the holiday season downtown.

Despite temperatures hovering around 15 degrees, a good crowd was on hand to celebrate the community’s annual lighting ceremony.

The evening included donation collection for Toys for Tots, caroling, s’mores by fire pits, llama visits, dance routines, wintry games, and plenty of lights. The celebration was capped off by a visit from Santa.

Mayor Debra McMillan, with the help of several young dancers, signaled the start of the festive season by flipping the switch on light displays. She also encouraged everyone in attendance to support local businesses during the big shopping season.
