Joe Brothers (2026)

2026 MN House 48A Candidate
DFL

“My experience helping to set up robust risk and compliance programs to prevent fraud as a vice president in the home mortgage division at Wells Fargo, along with my experience in affordable housing, are two areas that I hear about a lot when I’m knocking on doors. Along with my integrity to stand up for what is right and stand against what is wrong, even if that means I need to call out my own party.”

Email address: JoeBrothersforMNHouse@gmail.com
City of residence: Victoria

Professional and volunteer background:

I’m a former teacher, coach and vice president at Wells Fargo Bank. I volunteered with Boy Scouts of America, St. Victoria Church, Victoria Lions Club Softball Tournament and Feed My Starving Children.

Why did you decide to run for a seat in the Minnesota House:

I voted for the current officeholder the last two elections, and I decided to run for Minnesota House District 48A when I didn’t see him stand up to speak out against what is wrong. Integrity is a big part of who I am, and I think many career politicians are more interested in playing political games than making life better for people.

What makes you the best candidate in this race:

My experience helping to set up robust risk and compliance programs to prevent fraud as a vice president in the home mortgage division at Wells Fargo, along with my experience in affordable housing, are two areas that I hear about a lot when I’m knocking on doors. Along with my integrity to stand up for what is right and stand against what is wrong, even if that means I need to call out my own party.

What would be your top 3 priorities if elected to the Minnesota House:

The top three priorities if elected would be to protect taxpayer dollars by preventing fraud; lower taxes including car tabs, property taxes, and taxes on small businesses; and making healthcare and childcare affordable and accessible.

If you were elected and could be guaranteed approval on one legislative bill in the upcoming session, what would that one bill address:

Audit state government and clawback assets from the people convicted of stealing our money.

What has been the biggest failure attributed to legislative action or inaction in recent years:

The biggest failures attributed to legislative action or inaction in recent years is the inaction to effectively prevent fraud when it first occurred in 2013, stop unfunded mandates, and address housing, childcare, health care, and elder care affordability in a bipartisan manner.

What are your thoughts on the current level of taxation in Minnesota:

I think the current level of taxation is too high, especially for small businesses, when the money is not used the right way.

With so much attention focused on national issues, how will you engage the community to increase awareness of local issues:

I will have an open-door policy for anyone in the local community to show up at the State Capitol to talk. I will continue to door knock to talk to our neighbors even after I’m elected, and I will host coffee and conversations and town halls in every town in our district. I will also provide legislative updates via email, social media and websites.
