2026 Chaska City Council Candidate

“I propose a city event before each election to bring the candidates and citizens together. I understand the frustration Chaska residents feel, they don’t believe anyone is listening to them.”
— Robin Bielefeldt —
Name: Candidate Name
Website: https://b4cc.net
Email address: robinmbielefeldt@gmail.com
City of residence: Chaska – Ward 1
Professional and volunteer background:
Eagle Scout, U.S. Navy veteran, strong background in the power and IT sectors. I serve on the Carver County Board of Adjustment and as chairman of the Carver County Extension Committee.
What makes you the best candidate in this race:
I put in the work. My fellow Chaska residents are fed up because they don’t believe anyone listens to their concerns. I am running to be their voice.
What would be your top 3 priorities if elected to City Council:
- First, I intend to do everything in my power to stop the CloudHQ Data Center.
- Second, I intend to pass a ban on Flock cameras and Cell-Site Simulators.
- Third, I intend to propose the creation of a Chaska Veterans Center to bring together government and non-profit organizations and make Chaska the top destination in Minnesota for our veteran community.
With future growth projected for your community, what factors do you feel are important to consider as opportunities arise:
Chaska does have a housing density issue. We should focus on developing new subdivisions with single-family homes and not on building new apartment buildings. I will vote against any move to rezone low-density housing. One thing that wouldn’t help here is a new 15,000-square-foot data center, I know that much.
What does good civic leadership look like to you:
Getting out in the community and listening to concerns, soliciting ideas from our residents. I propose a city event before each election to bring the candidates and citizens together. I understand the frustration Chaska residents feel, they don’t believe anyone is listening to them.
What would you suggest would help to build an informed and engaged citizenry:
A local newspaper would definitely help. Maybe we can encourage a print edition of CCLN, just to name one idea.
What is your vision for the future of the city and how would you achieve that vision:
Let’s try and preserve our small-town nature, while updating our infrastructure to serve all our citizens. We aim to make Chaska the top destination for separating service members and their families in Minnesota, and to keep this city the best place to live and raise children. Safety and stability are the keys to our success in the future.
How would you address, if at all, ongoing property tax increases:
Housing prices are getting absurd, mostly due to national factors. I can’t promise it will be easy, but I believe we can meet our citizens needs without compromising our values. Let’s be good stewards of our people’s money and involve our community in these major renovation and construction decisions. When we take these votes as a city council, we need to consider what the burdens and benefits are for future generations.
With so much attention focused on state and national issues, how will you engage the community to increase awareness of local issues:
Social media has been very effective at drawing attention to specific local issues, such as the CloudHQ Data Center and Automated License Plate Readers. I intend to be out there, meeting with residents one-on-one and speaking to community groups, both before the election and during my term if the citizens of Ward 1 choose me.
