Beyond New Beginnings announced the appointment of Suzanne Banning as the New Chair of its board of directors. Banning succeeds Russell St. John, the organization’s first board chair, who co-founded the nonprofit six years ago. He will remain on the board, serving as treasurer. 

Beyond New Beginnings is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, providing stable housing and support services that help young mothers and their children build essential life skills, thrive and live independently.

“Serving as the inaugural board chair for the last six years has been the honor of a lifetime,” said St. John. “We started with just an idea, and today Beyond New Beginnings is a vital resource for our community. I am incredibly proud of what we built and have absolute confidence that Suzanne is the right leader to take us into our next chapter.”

Banning, who joined the board in 2025 and previously served as chair of its governance committee, brings 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership. Banning takes on the role as Beyond New Beginnings expands to a second campus in Chaska and the launch of a new strategic plan.

I look forward to working closely with our executive director, staff and board to scale our services and deepen our community relationships.”
