The city of Chanhassen invites families to celebrate spring at the annual Easter Egg Candy Hunt on Saturday, April 4, at City Center Park. This local tradition typically draws more than 500 children each year, along with their families, for a morning of fun, candy and seasonal activities.
The event will feature two waves, beginning at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., with the egg dash starting shortly after each. Participants are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes early for parking and walking to the event area.
Children ages 12 and under can participate for $6, while accompanying adults attend free. Participants will be grouped into age categories, including 2 and younger, 3–4, 5–7 and 8–12. Each child will receive a bag to collect candy and eggs, including special prize-winning eggs. Families are encouraged to bring cameras for a photo with the Easter Bunny. New this year, a dedicated “Age 2 & Under” zone will provide a more relaxed experience where parents may assist. In all other zones, children will collect eggs independently.
Families can also participate in a free community coloring contest. Pages are available at City Hall, the Chanhassen Recreation Center and online. Entries will be accepted through Sunday, April 5, with submission options in person or online. Winners will be selected by age category.
Due to Civic Campus construction, the event will be held on fields north of City Hall and the Chanhassen Library, with a slight shift from previous years. Pre-registration is encouraged through Friday, April 3, though day-of registration will be available.
