PROP Food to Host Community Town Hall

PROP Food will host a community-wide Town Hall on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Eden Prairie City Center, in the Heritage Preservation Room.

The conversation will be led by PROP Executive Director Jenifer Loon, who will guide attendees through updates on PROP’s services, emerging needs and ways the community can partner with PROP during this critical time.

For more than 55 years, PROP has served as an essential resource for Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, and surrounding communities. The event is free and open to all. Community partners, faith organizations, volunteers and anyone interested in learning more about PROP’s work are invited to attend.

The Town Hall will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about PROP’s mission, how the organization is responding to the evolving needs of local families, and new ways for the community to get involved.

Staff will share updates about PROP’s current services, including recent adaptations designed to ensure food access and housing support remain uninterrupted for all neighbors.

Community members are invited to submit questions ahead of time using this link.

As outlined in PROP’s recent statement, the organization continues to provide essential food and housing assistance while prioritizing dignity, safety and client choice. PROP is adapting delivery models to meet people where they are — including allowing designated trusted individuals to pick up food on clients’ behalf and working closely with those facing barriers to in-person visits.

Housing stability is at immediate risk for many families. By preparing now, PROP officials indicate they are ensuring continuity of care and guiding neighbors before a crisis escalates.

Town Hall attendees will also learn how PROP’s coordinated food-distribution infrastructure makes it possible to meet growing needs with reliability, dignity and scale. Community members will hear specific ways they can support this work through volunteering, food donations and financial contributions.

Attendees are encouraged to bring donations to the Town Hall. These items will be used to create Arepas and Calabacitas Kits — culturally meaningful meal kits that support the diverse families the organization serves. Most‑needed items include: corn tortillas, onion powder, garlic powder, small cooking oil (8.4 oz), salt, and pre-cooked white corn flour (such as Harina P.A.N. or equivalent).

These donations will be used during our community packing event on Monday, Feb. 10, from 5–7 p.m. at PROP (14700 Martin Dr., Eden Prairie).
