Biographical Information:
Todd was born on June 13, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN, to Theodore ad Betty (Nechas) Nikolai, the youngest of 3 children. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chaska. He also attended St. John’s Lutheran School from grades K-8. He graduated from Chaska High School, Chaska, MN, in 1976. He was active in his younger years playing sports in school. Todd met Julie Havercamp in Shakopee, MN, and it was love at first sight. Todd proposed to Julie on her birthday at the gazebo in the Chaska City Square and on June 6, 1998 they were married at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Chaska. He worked for the Burnsville School District for 30 years as a custodian and was finishing his career at the International School of Minnesota in Eden Prairie, MN. Todd was very visible at International School of Minnesota and created a welcoming environment. He enjoyed horse racing at Canterbury Downs in Shakopee and also enjoyed sports and music. Throughout his life Todd had and loved many pets, including dogs and cats. We will miss his great sense of humor, his rock and roll style, and his resilience in dealing with difficult conditions.

Survivors include his siblings, Pam (Denny) Welter of Chaska, Jed (Sandy) Nikolai of Chaska; nephews, Mason and Zach Nikolai; Julie’s daughter, Marlana (Jimmy) Ayers; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Julie (2023), parents, Ted and Betty Nikolai.
Funeral Service Details:
Funeral Service were held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Bertas Funeral Home. Pastor Greg Snow of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Chaska, was the clergy. The burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Chaska, MN.
