Local Business Takes Gold for Chaska Cubs Publication

The Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP) has recently named Wagner Press & Graphics as a recipient of the 2025 MarCom Gold award.

Wagner Press & Graphics was recognized for its production of the “Historic Chaska Athletic Park 75th Anniversary Souvenir Program.”

AMCP is an international organization which administers recognition programs that highlight outstanding achievements in service to the community. AMCP is the preeminent third-party evaluator of creative work, having judged more than 325,000 entries since 1994.

The MarCom Awards program honors excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work, and generosity of industry professionals. Each year about 7,000 print and digital entries are submitted from dozens of countries around the world.

The “Historic Chaska Athletic Park 75th Anniversary Souvenir Program” was produced by Wagner Press & Graphics at the request of the Chaska Cubs baseball team. Samantha Nielsen of the Wagner staff led the project as designer and associate editor.

“It’s not very often that I get to design a job from scratch, where I get to sit down with the client and really work together with them to create what they’re envisioning,” Nielsen said. “So, it makes me happy and excited when I get the chance to do some actual design work.”

The 2025 baseball season marked the 75th anniversary of Historic Chaska Athletic Park, a renowned Town Ball venue which first featured Chaska Cubs games back in June of 1950. The “Historic Chaska Athletic Park 75th Anniversary Souvenir Program” chronicles the many decades of teams, tournaments, personalities, floods and includes a complete alphabetical list of every Chaska Cubs player who competed at this old ballyard from 1950-2025.

For the Chaska Cubs, the decision to partner with Wagner Press & Graphics was an easy one, according to Nate Bostrom, Cubs coordinator of marketing and promotions.

“Wagner Press is one of the most supportive local businesses in Chaska,” he said. “Every year, Sue Wagner and her staff provide the Cubs with the highest quality services.”

“At Wagner Press, supporting the Chaska Cubs is about more than baseball — it’s about community,” Wagner said. “As a local business serving Chaska for 49 years, we believe in giving back to the people and organizations that make Chaska such a wonderful place to live and work.”

The 2025 MarCom award competition featured a strong field of competing applicant organizations. Among the winners were AARP, PGA Tour, United Way Worldwide, Aflac, National Geographic, Calgary Economic Development, Wynn Las Vegas, and Fox Home Entertainment. Competition stretched across multiple categories including design, print, web, digital media, audio/visual, and strategic communications.

The “Historic Chaska Athletic Park 75th Anniversary Souvenir Program” qualified for a 2025 MarCom Gold Award in the Marketing/Promotion Materials category.

“The Cubs bring families, friends, and neighbors together to create hometown pride and memories that last a lifetime,” Wagner said. “By supporting the Chaska Cubs and the 75th anniversary of our local ballpark, we’re proud to be part of that spirit and help keep our community strong, connected and full of hometown cheer.”

Copies of the “Historic Chaska Athletic Park 75thAnniversary Souvenir Program” are available (while supplies last) for $10 purchase at the Chaska History Center, located at 112 West 4th Street in downtown Chaska. For more information and hours, visit www.chaskahistory.org.
