(Kirk’s Captain Corner is a regular feature that will allow Carver County residents to get to know the student-leaders of the various teams in our high schools. Today, we feature senior captain Bryn Krause of the Chaska girls soccer team.)

When did you start playing soccer? Were you involved in clubs?
I started playing soccer when I was four years old for the rec league at CC United. I played club with CC United until this summer when the season ended.
What position do you play?
I play center midfield.
Sectional play starts this coming week. What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to how we compete. I think it will be a challenging game regardless of who we play.
I’ve heard the pregame clubhouse can be quite a dance party. What songs get the team fired up? Who is the “Team DJ” ?
The team DJ is Addie Perkins and we usually listen to songs like “Rock That Body” by Black Eyed Peas.
You scored the game winning touchdown for the Seniors in this year’s Powder Puff Football game. Tell us about that play!
Scoring the winning touchdown was such an exciting moment! I was playing defense and running towards the ball when the other team just handed the ball off to me. It was very unexpected especially since I have played outside linebacker every year for Powder Puff. It’s a moment I will never forget!
What are your plans for next year?
Next year I plan to go to school and major in Exercise Science.
What does it mean to you to be a team Captain?
To me it means leading by example and putting in effort on and off the field to make sure everyone is included. It is also about putting the team and helping everyone perform at their best.
The Hawks girls’ soccer team starts section play on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Game locations and start times TBD – check metrowestconference.org for all Chaska Hawks schedules.
