The moment Chaska motorists have been waiting for has almost arrived.
The newly constructed roundabout at Highway 41 (Chestnut) and Highway 10 (Engler Boulevard) is expected to open to traffic the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 30, if the weather continues to cooperate.
The roundabout will first open to traffic as a single-lane roundabout for the remainder of next week, as work is completed in the area.
Officials urge motorists to drive safely and watch for construction crews during the final stages of the project.
The new pedestrian underpasses at the Highway 41/10 intersection will remain closed until crews are able to pour the connecting concrete pathways and complete additional work. These underpasses are expected to open in the coming weeks, officials report, and provide a safe and convenient way to walk or bike through the area.
As the 41/10 roundabout opens, Engler Boulevard between Ridge Lane and Crest Drive will close down for construction of a fourth roundabout along that stretch. According to officials, Crest Drive will be accessible to traffic at all times. This final closure along Engler is expected to last through mid-November.
