Kirk’s Captain Corner – Addison Perkins, Chaska Girls Soccer

(Kirk’s Captain Corner is a regular feature that will allow Carver County residents to get to know the student-leaders of the various teams in our high schools. Today, we feature senior captain Addison Perkins of the Chaska girls soccer team.)

When did you start playing soccer?  Were you involved in clubs?

I started playing soccer when I was 3 and I played with CC United until I was 15

What position do you play?

Outside midfielder and forward

You’ve been dealing with injuries this season a bit – how is recovery going?  While you aren’t playing, how else are you making an impact with the team?

Recovery is going well, I’m doing a lot of physical therapy to be back for basketball season. Since I’m not playing I’m trying to make a positive impact by cheering the team on and making sure my team feels supported.

What has been your favorite memory playing for the Hawks soccer team?

Pasta dinners and pregame clubhouse music!

You were a part of the Hawks girls basketball team run to state last year. How has that experience added perspective to this soccer season?

To never say never. We weren’t expecting to go to state during basketball season but we made a great run! Hopefully we can do the same for soccer.

What are your plans for next year?

I am hoping to stay in the Midwest and major in exercise science on a pre-PT track.

What does it mean to you to be a team captain?

Being a team captain means so much to me. I take pride in being someone my teammates can count on for support and guidance. Leadership is something I value and I truly enjoy being a positive example and voice for my team.

The Hawks girls soccer team hosts Holy Family on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Chaska High School at 7 p.m. They travel to St. Louis Park on Thursday, Sept. 25 for a 5 p.m. game.
