A young Chaska girl is in the running for the national title of “Toddler of the Year,” and your vote could put her over the top.
Three-year-old Alexandra “Lexie” Bielefeldt currently sits at fifth place in Hasbro’s online campaign with just a few days remaining for voting.
“Toddler of the Year is more than a competition — it’s a celebration of the little humans who bring big light into the world,” the Hasbro website explains. “From silly giggles to bold personalities, we’re honoring the wonder, joy and unstoppable spirit of toddlerhood — because those tiny shoes hold some truly big dreams.”
According to Lexie’s mom and dad, Megan and Robin, the family entered the contest on a whim after learning about it online.
“I was like, ‘Just try it and see what happens,’” Megan said. “I submitted her information, did a little write up about her personality, and sent them some pictures.”
Megan said she had no expectation that her daughter would advance far but voting support from family and friends has kept Lexie in the Top 10.
“We’re super excited,” Megan admits.
According to her online profile, Lexie is passionate and enthusiastic about animals and doctors.
“Maybe she’ll be a veterinarian one day,” Megan suggested.
For fun, Lexie enjoys time at the playground, dancing and swimming, her mom reported. On a recent morning at Friendship Park in Chaska, Lexie and her brother Jacob were enthralled with a ladybug they found on the picnic table.
“Her personality is just very bubbly and fun, and she’s super cute,” Megan said as Lexie, Jacob (6) and Charlotte (15 months) play nearby. “And Lexie’s smile lights up a room. And her hugs are so sweet and comforting.”
If Lexie wins the national contest, she would be featured in a national Hasbro advertising campaign.
“She’s just goofy and silly, and I think she would do a good job in an ad campaign and she would enjoy it,” Megan said. “She loves the camera.”
The Bielefeldt family would also receive $25,000, lead the Hollywood Christmas Parade in December and win a trip to a Peppa Pig theme park if Lexie comes out on top.
If the family wins the $25,000 prize, Megan says it will help them complete a few home projects as well as put some money away for their kids’ futures. They’d also like to donate some of the winnings to their favorite animal rescue.
Television personality and actor Mario Lopez will announce this year’s winner and introduce the “Toddler of the Year” at the Christmas Parade.
The public can vote for free once each day via Facebook accounts. Individuals can secure extra voting power by donating to the Toys for Tots charitable drive, conducted annually by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for more than 75 years.
