Help the Fire Department Help You: Register for Community Connect

A new service – Community Connect – is available to help residents prepare for potential future emergencies in Chaska and Chanhassen. The free, safe and secure system allows residents and businesses to provide crucial information that is shared with the local fire department so personnel can respond as quickly as possible in times of need.

According to Firefighter Sarah Cody, it’s quick and easy to set up an account.

“It takes just a few minutes to create, with just an email, phone number and address,” Cody said. “Residents can also add critical information that could be helpful to us if we need to provide assistance, such as family members, pets and unique residence information (e.g., sprinklers or special access points).”

Additionally, if anyone in the home has special mobility needs, that information can be highlighted, Cody said.

Data shared in Community Connect is secure, Cody assured, and used only during emergency situations. Logins are password protected with bank-level encryption and security. If information changes over time, it’s possible to easily update a profile.

“We’re excited to launch Community Connect in Chaska,” said Fire Department Chief Stephen Kraus. “I encourage residents to set up an account. In case of emergency, it will help us accomplish our mission at a time when seconds make a real difference.”
