Fire & Ice Festival Set to Heat Up Chaska


Who doesn’t enjoy good food, live music and the fascination of a curling event? The 10th annual Chaska Fire & Ice Festival and Bonspiel, hosted by Chaska Parks and Recreation Department is set for July 10-12 at Fireman’s Park and the Curling and Event Center.

The bonspiel portion will feature some of the top curling teams from across the area and beyond. The bonspiel portion of the festival runs from Thursday to Sunday. Teams, schedules and pairings will be posted at the Curling Center this week.

The community festival portion (July 11 and 12) offers food vendors, live music and fireworks. Food vendors and the first of two cover bands will start things off Friday at 6:00 p.m. Food vendors will be on site from 6 to 10 p.m., with fireworks concluding the evening at sundown. Parking is available at Fireman’s Park and the Curling Center.

Saturday includes a robust schedule of events for all ages kicking off with a Family Fun Run at 11:30 a.m. (advanced registration is required). Food vendors start up at noon.

The afternoon schedule includes Fun in the Park from noon to 4 p.m. and a Bean Bag Tournament at 1:30 p.m. (advanced registration required).

The first of three bands start at 4:30 p.m. and will include a sing-songwriter, an energetic dance band and a country cover band. The night wraps up again with fireworks at 10 p.m.

Southwest Transit will offer shuttle services from Carver Station on Friday and Saturday.
