The 2024-2025 school year has officially come to an end and summertime is upon us. Filled with excitement for the next chapter of their lives, the departing senior class is full of things to say. Among them is McKenzie Windschitl, a standout Chan graduate with an incredibly well-rounded academic resume.

Academics and Athletics
Windschitl’s academic achievement is undeniable. She was placed on the 12A honor roll this year, served as the Community Relations Coordinator for Chanhassen’s DECA chapter and was adored by teachers.
While her academic statistics are impressive, her high school achievement exceeds the classroom. Windschitl also played varsity softball for Chan. On the field, she was loved by her teammates and was awarded the All-Conference Academic Award in 2025.
“You don’t realize how much a sport can change you until you’ve lived it. From walking in as just another player to walking out with lifelong friends, countless lessons and a deeper love for the game – I’m forever grateful,” Windschitl said.
Regret Free Lifestyle
Windschitl was known throughout the halls of Chanhassen for her witty humor and kind personality. This idea is personified in her advice in relation to the high school experience: leave with no regrets.
“As I took my final steps out of Chanhassen High School, I realized I walked away with no regrets. I cheered my heart out at every sports game, made amazing friends that I’ll be lucky to come home to during breaks and worked my butt off in the classroom,” she said.
Looking to the future, Windschitl also spoke on how she plans to maintain this mindset through her collegiate life.
“I know that if I put myself out there like I did in high school and make the most of every moment, I have nothing to worry about,” she said.
Future Cyclone
In the fall, Windschitl will attend Iowa State University with an intended major in business. While she is excited to move forward into the world, she still holds a place for Chanhassen in her heart.
“Graduating doesn’t feel real, and I’m not sure it ever will. Not seeing the people I grew up with every week is mind-blowing… I’m so proud to be a Chanhassen Alum,” she said.
