Board & Brush Chanhassen Relaunches Under New Ownership

Chanhassen’s Board & Brush Creative Studio celebrated a grand reopening on March 25, welcoming the community back with a fresh look, renewed energy and new local ownership.

The studio temporarily closed for a few weeks during renovations, giving the space a refreshed layout and new signage. The March event marked a relaunch under new ownership, with a focus on reconnecting with the local community.

The studio has joined the Southwest Metro Chamber of Commerce and is actively engaging with city leaders and local organizations. Plans are already underway for participation in upcoming events like Taste of Chaska in May and the July 4th parade this summer.

New owner Ashely Gauthier, who also has ties to restaurant and commercial real estate, was drawn to the creative and community-driven nature of the Board & Brush concept.

“I have a personal passion for arts and crafts,” said Gauthier. “With my daughter involved in cheer and a strong creative side myself, this was a great fit.”

Most of the existing staff, many of them local high school students, have stayed on, bringing their hard work and enthusiasm into the refreshed studio. “We have a great team here. They’re hard-working kids,” Gauthier said.

Board & Brush is a national franchise with over 200 locations across the U.S., as well as studios in Japan and upcoming expansions into Canada. The Chanhassen location offers a variety of hands-on DIY workshops, where customers create customized wood signs and home décor projects with the guidance of trained instructors. New project designs are released monthly, keeping the offerings fresh and fun.

Workshops are typically pre-scheduled private parties with custom preparations based on each individual’s selected project. Bookings require 48-hour advance notice to allow time for customized materials. Some workshops also offer beverages at the location, adding an extra layer of fun for guests looking to sip and create together.

Looking ahead, the studio is planning to offer special events like brunch workshops, possible summer camps for kids, and “Walk-In Wednesdays” during the warmer months.
