Chaska, Chanhassen Claim Top Two Spots at Track Meet


Under a sunny sky with winds gusting up to 25 mph, the Chaska Hawks hosted their first outdoor home track meet of the season on Wednesday, April 16.

Chanhassen, Bloomington Jefferson and Minneapolis South came to Chaska for the Quad Invitational. For the girls, final team scoring put Chanhassen in first, Chaska second, Bloomington Jefferson third and Minneapolis South fourth. For the boys’ teams, Chaska took first and Chanhassen placed second, with Bloomington Jefferson holding third and Minneapolis South in fourth.

Chaska got off to a strong start with first place finishes in both the boys and girls 4x800m relays. Caden Silus, Ivan Peterson, Evan Dougherty and Tait Gatz took first for the boys. Genevieve Boles, Lilli Gramith, Anna Lemons and Sidney Dauwalter claimed first place for the girls.

Chaska dominated the boys 100m race, with Fred Harris running a 12.02s time to win the race, followed by teammates Jemaryn Smith, Aidan Pals and Joshua Schmidt coming in second through fourth. In the girls 100m, Chanhassen took the top four spots, led by Madelyn Faust with a 13.39s time, followed by Haylee Bode, MacKenzie Jensen and Honor Dapp.

In a close finish, Minneapolis South edged out Chaska in the girls 4x200m, with a time of 1:52.36 to Chaska’s 12:52.55. Chaska’s team of Charlie Mueller, Justin Greathouse, Aidan Mckeever and Fred Harris won the boys 4x200m. Chaska swept up the top four spots in the girls 1600m, with Noella Ross turning in a 5:07.99 time. She was followed by Rebecca Ross, Sidney Fuhr and Maria Knott. Evan Dougherty won the 3200m boys race for Chaska.

The boys 4×100 relay teams claimed first and third for Chaska, with Sam Summer, Aidan Pals, Josh Schmidt and Fred Harris coming in first and the team of Aiden Engeman, Alexander Mckeever, Connor Egan and Mason Igl in third. Aidan Mckeever claimed first place for Chaska with a 42.30s time in the 300m hurdles, second place went to Alexander Williamson of Minneapolis South, while Chanhassen took third through sixth.

For Chanhassen, Maya Feuerhelm placed third in the girls 100m hurdles, while Charlie Wennerstrom, Logan Dealwis and Mason Dealwis placed second through fourth in the boys 110m hurdles. Connor Heltemes placed second in the boys 1600m race, with a time of 4:37.37.

Chanhassen girls won the 4x100m relay, with a team composed of Haylee Bode, Cyann Eittreim, Marnie Hansen and Bella Naples who put together a 50.83s time. The girls took four of the top five places in the 400m race, won by Bella Naples. Anna Schottler, Marnie Hansen and Liliana Patrick placed second, third and fifth. Zadok Dodoo won the boys 400m with a time of 51.73s, followed by Chaska’s Charlie Mueller in second place. Bloomington Jefferson’s Payton Lewis won the girls 300m hurdles, with Chanhassen’s Cyann Eittreim and Beraiah-Grace Dodoo coming in second and third.

Chanhassen’s Madelyn Faust and Kylie Tisor placed first and second in the girls 800m, with Lilli Gramith winning third place for Chaska. The Bloomington Jefferson boys dominated the 800m, taking the top five spots.

In the girls 200m, Chanhassen runners Anna Schottler, Lilianna Patrick, Adriana Montegudo-Alborch and Beraiah-Grace Dodoo swept the top spots, running first through fourth, respectively. Chaska’s Justin Greathouse won the boys 200m, followed by Chanhassen’s Zadok Dodoo and Chaska’s Charlie Mueller in second and third place.

Finishing out the track events, Chaska’s team of Isabelle Bigaouette, Noella Ross, Rebecca Ross and Sidney Fuhr won the girls 4x400m. Aidan Mckeever, Tait Gatz, Caden Silus and Justin Greathouse won the boys 4x400m for Chaska while the Chanhassen team of Gavin Gustad, Jordan Hunnicutt, Charles Glover, and Andrew Kalenze placed second.

In the field events, Chaska’s Addie Perkins won the girls triple jump at 30′ 10″, with Chanhassen’s Grace Seubert in a close second place at 30′ 9.75″. For the boys, Chaska’s Joshua Wedel’s 39′ 7.25″ triple jump was a foot farther than his closest competitors.

In long jump, Annika Lara Walen took first place for Minneapolis South with a jump of 14′ 9.5″, followed by Chanhassen’s Cyann Eittreim, Honor Dapp and Liv Naples, who all jumped over 14′, and earned places two through four, respectively. For the boys, Chanhassen took first and third place, with Coleman Zielinski winning with a jump of 20′ 4.75″, and Alexander Hardin at 18′ 9.25″.

Chaska’s Joshua Schmidt took second at 19’1″ and Fred Harris was fourth at 18′ 1.25″.  In shot put, Chanhassen throwers Natalie Chua and Sienna Hubbard placed first and third, with Chaska’s Isabelle Bigaouette in second. For the boys, Joshua Wedel took the top spot, followed by Owen Sevald of Chanhassen. Nicholas Robinson of Chaska placed third. In high jump, Chaska athletes Ayla Schmitz took first place with a jump of 5′ 1″ and Maddie Edwards took second with a jump of 4′ 10″. Chanhassen’s Kylie Tisor also jumped 4′ 10″, earning third place. The boys high jump was won by Alexander Williamson of Minneapolis South with a 6′ 0″ jump, matched by Alexander Hardin of Chanhassen for second place. Logan Brackee and Jabez Jobirra, both of Chaska, tied for third place at 5′ 6″.

Chanhassen will host Chaska, Waconia and Orono at their Invitational on Tuesday, April 22, with a 3 p.m. start time. Admission is free and all are welcome.
