Boys StormHawks Open Volleyball Season

The StormHawks Boys volleyball team kicked off their season on Thursday, March 27, against Shakopee in front of a spirited crowd. This was not only the start of the season but the start of a new sport for District 112.

Captains Toby Vang and Devon Hargreaves led nine of their teammates out to the court for this first-ever match. The team started practicing just last week and are leveraging many from last year’s club team.

The StormHawks showed some nerves in the first game and a strong Shakopee team took advantage winning the first game 25-3.

The second set saw the StormHawks make some adjustments, and the squad delivered a number of strong points. However, the Sabers took the second set 25-9.

In game three, the StormHawks demonstrated their capabilities as they battled Shakopee and led for a few points in the match. The third game, and the match, went to Shakopee 25-19, with the StormHawks giving a strong indication of future success for the team.

In post-game comments, Coach Joe Wilson reminded the team that Shakopee could be the best team they face all year. He complimented the team on their focus, toughness and resiliency in their first match.

Coach Sydney Dose reminded the team about how far they had come in a short time. She acknowledged some adjustments and improvements are needed, but pointed out the team is more than capable, and they can get it done. She was very positive about how the team improved in each game against Shakopee and listed off a number of things that went well, especially in the third game.

The next home game will be Tuesday, April 7, versus Lakeville North. Follow boy’s volleyball this inaugural season via their website
