Spring-like temperatures in the air can only mean one thing: road construction season. Chaska residents who rely on traveling Highway 10 (Engler Boulevard) between Bavaria Road and Park Ridge Drive will have to use alternate routes in the coming months. Highway 41 will also be impacted later in the year. Carver County is partnering with the MnDOT and City of Chaska to make key improvements to enhance safety, improve traffic flow and address long-term transportation needs.
What’s changing
- Roundabouts: A system of roundabouts with a designated lane design (similar to highway exit ramps) will be constructed.
- Improved intersection safety: A new roundabout at Highway 41 and Highway 10 will allow for an additional roundabout at Highway 10 and White Oak Drive, improving turning movements and reducing delays.
- Wider, smoother roadway: The project includes reconstructing and expanding Highway 10 to four lanes between Bavaria Road and Park Ridge Drive.
- Road maintenance: Carver County will complete maintenance overlays from the Highway 212 ramps to the west project limits and from the east project limits to Old Audubon Road to improve pavement conditions.
Estimated schedule
Because Minnesota winters can hang on for some time, it is difficult to say exactly when construction will begin, but the current plan is early April.
Refer to the color-coded staging map for more information. The current timing estimates (subject to change) are:
- Bavaria Road closure (yellow) – early April to early June 2025
- Highway 41 closure (light blue) – early June to late September 2025
- Highway 10A closure (light green) – early June to late November 2025
- Highway 10B closure (purple) – late September to early December 2025 OR early April to early June 2026
“Pavement resurfacing and trail construction (red and orange dashes on the map) will occur at some point from June through November,” said communications consultant Sara Renney.

The Carver County Highway 41/10 Project website displays helpful information, such as maps for closures, detours and access, a project visualization and an informational handout. Renney estimates that in a few weeks, the web page will be refreshed to provide easy access to maps in accordance with the current stage.

“We understand road construction can be challenging for the community at times. Our goal is to provide as much communication to the public as possible to ensure a seamless construction phase of the Highway 41/10 Project. Together, we can make that happen,” said Renney.
