Saturday, March 15, 11 a.m.: Author Curtis Sittenfeld visit; Chanhassen Library
Author Curtis Sittenfeld will visit the Chanhassen library. The bestselling author of American Wife, Sisterland and Romantic Comedy, has a new collection of stories to share.
In Show Don’t Tell, she explores marriage, friendship, fame and artistic ambition, including a story that revisits the main character from her iconic novel Prep.
Curtis will be hosted by her friend, author Ada Calhoun, whose book Crush: A Novel is also available this spring.
Books by both authors will be available for purchase and signing from Valley Bookseller. This program will be streamed simultaneously on the Carver County Library Facebook page and will be available on our social media for a month after the program. This program is presented by Literature Lovers’ Night Out™.
Wednesday, March 19, 1 p.m.: Chaska Community Garden Club; Chaska Library
The Chaska Community Garden Club will meet at the Chaska library. The City of Chaska cleared out a garden plot across Pine Street next to the Carver County License Center which will provide a great opportunity to showcase the library’s seed library and a chance to grow some delicious produce to be donated to the Bountiful Basket Food Shelf.
Join to learn more about volunteering to help staff with planning, planting and maintaining the garden. The group will meet March through October and is open to all experience levels. Registration is recommended by calling the library at 952-303-0402 or on the library’s calendar of events.
Thursday, March 20, 6 p.m.: Communities of Belonging; Chanhassen Library
Communities of Belonging will hold its Third Thursday Library Gathering at the Chanhassen library. The group places brightly painted stones around Chanhassen. On the bottom of each is a sticker that says, “Communities of Belonging.”
Join the group to paint mandala designs on more stones and learn about this local group that is growing awareness and creating welcoming spaces in our community. All supplies provided. Registration is recommended by calling the library 952-303-0401 or on the library’s calendar of events.
Saturday, March 22, 10 a.m.: Cybersecurity presentation; Chanhassen Library
Learn more about cybersecurity at the Chanhassen library. This presentation will be presented by Boima Freeman of the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Freeman has more than 16 years of banking experience as a wire transfer investigator and fraud analyst with US Bank.
The presentation will cover the importance of setting and updating strong passwords, how to keep personal information private while browsing, using social media, checking e-mail, banking or working within a home network and its connected devices. It will also teach how to avoid becoming a victim of phishing messages.
Taking a few precautions can make it much more difficult to become a victim for cybercriminals to exploit.

Wednesday, March 26, 6:30 p.m.: Sustainable Gardens in the Face of a Changing Climate; Chanhassen Library
The Carver-Scott Master Gardeners will present the program Sustainable Gardens in the Face of a Changing Climate at the Chanhassen library.
They will share how to prevent, minimize and manage the effects of a changing climate in yards and gardens. Learn about creating healthy soils, rain gardens, bee lawns and how to choose the best plants to help pollinators thrive.
Attendees will also learn how to create a resilient and healthy ecosystem in their own yards and gardens. This session is presented in partnership with the University of Minnesota Extension’s Carver and Scott Counties Master Gardener Volunteers.
