If you have lived in your home for many years, you get comfortable. It’s like wearing a well-worn pair of comfy slippers. You don’t feel the need to change … unless you’re forced to do so.
Here are the top three signs that it might be time to sell your home:
PHYSICAL:
Are you bursting at the seams of your house? Does your once spacious home feel like there’s nowhere to store all the kid’s sports gear? Or, perhaps it’s just the opposite. Have you spent decades of loving time in your home, raising your family, and now the home seems empty? Not having enough space, or having too much space, is one of the top signs that it may be time to sell your current home and move into something that better fits your family’s needs.
FINANCIAL:
Do you feel like you keep pumping money into your home for repairs or updates? It may be time to draw a line in the sand, and instead, find a home that’s already updated to your liking. We are still in a sellers’ market, and with so little inventory available, buyers are not afraid of a home needing some updating. Additionally, do you know the equity you’ve built in your home? With the market favorable to sellers, selling your home while the market is still hot could result in a larger return than you were expecting.
LIFE EVENT:
Have you just welcomed a new bundle of joy into the family? Or accepted a new job in a different part of town or out of state? Or, maybe less fortunately, you or a family member has experienced a decline in physical health? While even a positive major life event can feel stressful, moving into a home that accommodates your life event can help ease the stress.
If any of these three signs apply to you, it may be time to consider a change.
