Obituary Submission Guidelines

We understand the importance of honoring the lives of loved ones in our community. To ensure that all obituaries submitted to Carver County Local News are respectfully presented and align with our editorial standards, please review the following guidelines before submitting:

• Submission Process
  • Please submit one form per individual.
  • Each obituary should include the full name, date of birth, and date of passing, along with a brief biography, family information, and any details regarding services or memorials.
  • A photo may also be included.
• Content Length
  • The standard length for obituaries is 250-500 words.
  • Longer submissions may be subject to editing for length and clarity.
• Approval and Editing
  • All submissions will be reviewed by our editorial team.
  • We may make minor edits for grammar, clarity, or style.
  • Significant changes will be communicated to the submitter before publication.
• Turnaround Time
  • Please allow up to 3 business days for review and publication.
  • If you need an obituary posted sooner, please indicate this in your submission, and we will do our best to accommodate.
• Respect and Sensitivity
  • We ask that all content be respectful, considerate, and appropriate.
  • Obituaries must not include political or commercial messages, personal grievances, or content that could be deemed offensive.
• Contact Information
  • Personal contact information, such as phone numbers or addresses, will not be published.
    • This is for our contact purposes only and will be kept confidential.
• Permission
  • By submitting the obituary, you grant Carver County Local News permission to publish the content as submitted and to share it publicly on our platform.
• Payment
  • We do not charge for obituary postings; however, donations to support our nonprofit work are appreciated. Donate Here
